WHAT IS AN APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAM?

An Apprenticeship Program is a good way to prepare yourself for the future with on-the-job training and/or related classroom instructions in a highly skilled career. An apprenticeship is a paid job. Someone who is new to the field (the apprentice) learns the skills needed for the job. Apprentices are trained by master craftsmen, who are experts in their field.

Our Apprenticeship Program can equip you with the Classroom and On the Job Training (OJT) qualifying you for a good job.

How can I apply?

What are the minimum qualifications for the program?


No pre-qualifications are required to attend the apprenticeship.




Is there an entrance exam involved in the application process?


Yes, an entrance evaluation exam will be required to determine your education level and current knowledge base in the field.




What does the evaluation consist of?


Workforce Solutions Alamo does the pre-apprenticeship evaluation for our apprentice applicants. The evaluation consists of a written exam with multiple choice questions to determine your education level and current knowledge base in the field.




What happens after the evaluation?


After the evaluation you will be notified by Workforce Solutions Alamo with your evaluation exam results and the status of your apprenticeship application acceptance. If you pass the exams and are accepted, you will then be given a start date to join our apprenticeship.

What is an Apprentice?

When do you accept applications?


We accept applications year-round on Thursdays only from 2:00PM-4:00PM.




Is there any consideration given to minorities?


No. We understand the barriers to employment and work with second chance individuals, however, Jarvis Moore Inc. How soon will I receive a call after I submit my application?


You will be contacted via phone or email within 2 weeks to inform you the status of your application




If my application is accepted and active, does this mean I am an apprentice?


No. You will not be considered an apprentice until after the apprenticeship evaluation results are reviewed and you receive notice you have passed and given a start date to start the apprenticeship course and are hired as an employee/apprentice.




How long is an apprenticeship?


The apprenticeship course is 4,000 Total Program Hours for a duration of 9 months-2 years. A Certificate will be issued after your course completion.




What should I expect after my application is accepted and considered active?


After you submit an application and are considered a candidate you will be placed on a waiting list. Your registration process will begin at the earliest date. You will then be notified with the next steps.




How much does the apprenticeship cost?


The apprenticeship course is $65,000 per year. However, scholarships, grants, and other methods of payments are utilized in order to offer training to our apprentices at no cost.




How soon do I start classes after I submit my application?


Start dates depend on the funding source. For example, after Workforce Solutions Alamo, notifies you with your evaluation exam results and informs you that you are accepted as an apprentice and gives you a start date.




How are applicants chosen?


Applicants are chosen based on evaluation exams and level of interest/commitment on case by case basis.




Do I have to pay for the evaluation?


No.




What is the pay scale if I am accepted into the apprenticeship?


Pay scales are determined based on apprentice’s skill set and knowledge of equipment and scopes of work.




Does an apprentice have health insurance benefits? If so, how are those determined?


No.




Am I guaranteed 4-years of work or are there lay-offs?


Employment durations are not guaranteed, it is all based on the industry health.
